"Two universities, two cities; one goal, one partnership."
As the world becomes more and more urbanized, cities try to continually improve their environments, for increased performance of the social and economic functions of life. But are we thinking big enough?
This first edition of the NTU-UIUC Global Issues Forum focuses on the cross-disciplinary challenges of global urbanization: Smart Cities, Healthy Cities. Looking at such areas as urban analysis, governance, health, work, networks, the Forum hopes to enhance the value of multidisciplinary collaboration between both research institutions. The debates are designed to provide an ambitious connecting platform for the exchange of expertise across a broad spectrum of knowledge fields.
In our roles as leading Taiwanese and American universities, we're committed to exploring and improving our societies. Thanks to first-rate research and transformative innovations, we have the potential of changing how we live and work.
The Global Issues Forum represents an important step to this end, as it marks a strategic move to overcome grand challenges using a constructive time span of at least three events in three years, in both NTU and UIUC.
The NTU-UIUC 2014 Global Issues Forum “Smart Cities, Healthy Cities” will be hosted by National Taiwan University (NTU) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) on November 03–04, 2014 in Taipei, Taiwan.
